MOTOR CARRIER

U.S. Highway 281 is a north-south highway passing through Doniphan. There are no local load restrictions. East-west Interstate 80 is located three miles north of Doniphan and Interstate 29 is located 150 miles east of Doniphan. Nineteen commercial trucklines serve the area with interstate and/or intrastate services.

Scheduled air service, passenger, air express and air freight services are provided at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport, (308) 385-5170, located 18 miles north of Doniphan. Hastings Municipal Airport, (402) 462-6422, located 14 miles south of Doniphan, has all services except for commercial. Special services available include aircraft charter, air ambulance, flight instruction, and aircraft and avionics repair.

Main lines of the Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern Railroad serve both Grand Island (11 miles), and Hastings (14 miles). Grand Island has approximately 50 freight trains daily. Switching in Grand Island is done by a local switch crew twice daily.

Amtrak provides Hastings, Nebraska (14 miles south of Doniphan), with rail passenger service. Amtrak has one east and one west train daily.
